The president promised to complete the creation of the shield by the end of his term, which critics consider an unrealistic goal, just like the $175 billion cost that the president talked about.
According to “WSJ”, the company of Elon Musk, who has partially improved his relations with Donald Trump, is also to receive contracts for the construction of two other satellite networks for the Pentagon: Milnet, which will be used to transmit sensitive military information, and another one used to track vehicles on land.
SpaceX has extensive experience in this type of projects, but some politicians in Washington are afraid that the Pentagon is too dependent on one company.
