Norilsk Nickel has begun scheduled repairs of the first production line of the Nadezhdinsky plant

November 1 9:00

At the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant named after B.I. Kolesnikov, scheduled repairs of flash smelting furnace No. 1 and related equipment of the first production line started. The work will cover the full complex, from the preparation and drying of the concentrate to gas cooling systems and exhaust gas evacuation.

To carry out the work in a short time, about 400 specialists from the specialized repair enterprise “Norilsk Nickel” and “Pechengastroy” were involved. The contractors quickly regrouped forces from the Kola production site to Norilsk.

“Carrying out regular maintenance is an integral part of the life cycle of modern metallurgical production. This planned approach allows us to maintain the technically sound condition of the entire complex of equipment – from the main unit to peripheral systems. This is the foundation for trouble-free and stable operation of the production line,” said Vitaly Muravyov, director of the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant.

The company clarified that the total planned duration of repairs, including the stage of heating the flash smelting furnace, will be no more than five days. This minimizes the impact on overall production performance.

“The peculiarity of the work being carried out is its highest intensity and concentration on the result in an extremely short time. We have built clear logistics and coordinate the efforts of hundreds of specialists and contractors to ensure maximum reliability and efficiency of the equipment after it reaches normal operation. This tactic of planned but short-term repairs allows us to flexibly manage production assets, constantly maintaining their level of technical readiness,” added Oleg Landyshev, deputy director of the Nadezhdinsky plant for industrial asset management.

Let us remind you that the plant processes nickel concentrates from the Talnakh and Norilsk enrichment plants. The finished product of the enterprise is copper-nickel matte, which is sent for further processing to the Kola MMC.
