PSD Senator Daniel Zamfir reacted, on Saturday, in a post on Facebook, after being criticized by journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu. Zamfir, who recently accused Oana Gheorghiu, co-founder of the “Dăruiește Viață” Association and recently appointed deputy prime minister, of doing “charity for money” in the project regarding the construction of the hospital for children with cancer, now accuses CTP of “pouring venom into Romanian society”.

“The time has come for the 'poison of society', Cristian Tudor Popescu, to offend me as well because I dared to state that Mrs. Gheorghiu's involvement, absolutely commendable otherwise, in the construction of a hospital body at Marie Curie was not voluntary, since she, and probably also her partner, were remunerated from these donations with 5,000 euros per month,” wrote Zamfir.

“I didn't accuse, I just tried to respond to a virulent propaganda that spoke of a charitable, voluntary action. And I even dared to say that it is a lie to state that the only hospital in Romania in the last 35 years was built by these ladies”, added the PSD senator.

The social democrat says that “there are dozens of new hospital bodies, of bodies rehabilitated by town halls and county councils in many places in the country and even four in Bucharest, under the eyes of the CTP propagandist”.

The PSD senator accuses Cristian Tudor Popescu and other journalists of “having a mission for which they are well paid”. “For the propagandists gathered in the 'Brotherhood of Rats', the truth does not matter. They have a mission for which they are well paid. Or, excuse me, their mission is 'civic action'. For 35 years, with a lot of money, coming from the Soros channel, they have been working intensively to demonize the PSD,” he wrote.

“Out of respect for the truth, not for flattery, in the last four years this is the balance sheet of the 'red plague' regarding the construction of hospitals,” concluded Zamfir, who published a list of completed or ongoing hospital and medical center projects.

The list includes major burns centers in Timișoara, Târgu Mureș and Grigore Alexandrescu, as well as hospitals in Bistrița, Cluj, Bucharest, Craiova, Tulcea and other cities, but most of them are modernizations, expansions or projects just started.

HotNews.ro previously reported that Romania still does not have a functioning center for major burns, 10 years after the tragedy at Colectiv.

CTP: “The Brotherhood of the Rats Has Begun”

Daniel Zamfir's reaction comes after Cristian Tudor Popescu criticized him on Saturday, saying that “one of the most diligent workers of the PSD, route operator D. Zamfir” stated that “it's not charity from the heart, it's for money”.

The journalist explained that Oana Gheorghiu's salary as manager of the “Give Life” project was justified, comparing it to that in the private sector for an enterprise of such scope, and accused that the attacks on her “offend 350,000 Romanians who give life to sick children”.

“What ladies Oana Gheorghiu and Carmen Uscatu did is NOT charity. Acts of charity, that is, almsgiving, are done by those who have money and give it to those in need without asking them for anything in return. The two ladies did not put a lot of their money into building a hospital for children with serious illnesses, because they did not have it, they requested this money from people. And they received it, because the donors had TRUST in Carmen and Oana, in a country full of swindlers who ask for money online for “charitable works”, said the journalist, emphasizing that the medical unit was built with donated money.
