The Pentagon has approved the transfer of US Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine after assessing that this will not have a negative impact on US stockpiles.

However, the final political decision belongs to President Donald Trump, according to three American and European officials familiar with this matter, quoted by CNN, writes News.ro.
While the Pentagon has no concerns about the stockpile, US defense officials are still grappling with how Ukraine would train personnel and use the missiles, officials said.
There are still several operational issues that would need to be resolved before Ukraine can use the missiles effectively, the sources added.
Trump has not completely given up on the idea of the missiles, sources previously told CNN, and the administration has drawn up plans to quickly provide them to Ukraine if Trump gives the order.
Trump, frustrated by Putin's refusal to negotiate peace, imposed new sanctions on Russian oil companies and postponed a planned meeting with the Russian leader in Budapest.
In mid-October, President Volodymyr Zelensky met at the White House with Trump, where he asked for additional support for Ukraine, including the delivery of long-range missiles capable of hitting targets inside Russian territory.
During the meeting, Trump said he was “an honor” to receive “such a strong leader”, emphasizing that “The US has been through a lot with him”. The missiles would expand Ukraine's ability to strike long-range targets, including Moscow, but Washington has not yet decided whether to approve the deal.
Trump has made it clear that he prefers a peaceful solution: “We would like to end the war without Tomahawks”.
