The Pentagon approved the supply of Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine – CNN

At the same time, the final decision on the supply of missiles to Kyiv remains with US President Donald Trump, the American TV channel emphasized.

Earlier, in October, the head of the White House said that he would not want to “give away what we need to protect the country.”

As CNN pointed out, the Joint Staff informed the White House of its assessment earlier this month, shortly before Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Kyiv insisted on the supply of missiles to more effectively destroy oil and energy facilities deep in Russia (Tomahawk missiles have a flight range of about 1,600 km).

A few days before the meeting with Zelensky, Trump also said that the United States has many Tomahawks. Therefore, American and European officials were surprised when the American president abruptly changed his position a few days later, saying at a working lunch in the White House with Zelensky that the United States needs Tomahawk, CNN emphasized.

Trump then told Zelensky behind closed doors that the US would not supply them to Ukraine, at least for now, the channel added.

Trump made this decision the day after a telephone conversation with illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin, who told the head of the White House that Tomahawks could hit Moscow and St. Petersburg, and that this supposedly would not have a significant impact on the course of hostilities in the Russian war against Ukraine, but would damage relations between the United States and the Russian Federation, CNN indicated.

The White House and Pentagon did not respond to the network's requests for comment.
