The source mentions that Adams, even before the tragedy, was in the company of Timur Magomedov, a former football player of Rubin Yalta. During the meeting, Adams allegedly complained about life and emotional problems. However, Magomedov denied to the police that the footballer had ever shown signs of suicidal thoughts.

Further doubt is cast by the statement of Adams' mother, who claims that her son did not have a girlfriend, thus calling into question the version of events presented by his friends. As she recounted, Lionel called her the day before the tragedy, but she failed to answer. When she later tried to contact him, he did not answer.

Interestingly, Adams' name also appeared in the media at the end of December last year, when he was involved in a serious incident in Zvenigorod, near Moscow. Then, according to reports, an altercation with a larger group of people took place in a coffee shop, and Adams suffered injuries and was hospitalized. After the police interview, he refused to name the attackers and left the hospital voluntarily a few days later.
