Nearly 1,000 inspections of passenger transport vehicles. Several hundred tickets for almost 50,000. zlotys

The capital's police officers carried out 989 vehicle inspections as part of the “Safe Transport” campaign. They issued 310 fines worth over PLN 48,000. zloty. They also seized 14 driving licenses and 71 registration certificates.

Inspections were carried out at railway and bus stations from October 21 to 27.

Among the drivers inspected, as many as 24 people should not be behind the wheelbecause they did not have the right to do so, four of them were subject to a court driving ban.

“The vast majority of checked drivers were foreigners – 600 people. The police also imposed 166 fines on them. During the inspections, it also came to light that some foreigners were illegally staying in Poland or using forged documents,” said Junior Asp. Bartłomiej Śniadała from the Warsaw Police.

The total amount of all fines issued by police officers was over PLN 48,000. zlotys. The drivers included four men (two citizens of Uzbekistan, a citizen of Pakistan and a Zimbabwean) who were wanted in the Schengen area.

The police also seized 14 driving licenses and 71 registration cards.

Police officers from the traffic police, intelligence officers and police officers from the Warsaw riot police and the capital's district headquarters took part in the inspections. (PAP)
