According to her, the subject of the letter is a message about conducting a “financial audit on the fact of money laundering” regarding a certain organization.
Karnaukh emphasized that the State Tax Service has nothing to do with this mailing and calls on Ukrainians to be attentive.
“The letters contain malicious software. Opening the attached file leads to the launch of a malicious program that creates technical capabilities for hidden unauthorized access to the user’s personal computer. There is a real danger of personal computers being infected with viruses,” the official explained.
The State Tax Service advises:
- do not open attachments in suspicious emails;
- observe the rules of personal cyber hygiene;
- be careful and attentive even when receiving notifications from known recipients, because attackers can fake the sender's address;
- If possible, check the authenticity of the received letter, confirming that it was sent by the sender.
