The Ukrainian side proposed to the Polish side several possible dates for President Karol Nawrocki's visit to Kiev, and there were no negative signals from Warsaw in this regard, said Ukrainian ambassador to Poland Vasyl Bodnar on Monday in a comment for the state agency Ukrinform.

The diplomat referred to the statement of the head of the Bureau of International Policy under the President of the Republic of Poland, Marcin Przydacz, who stated that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, should come to Warsaw to meet the Polish leader, the agency wrote.
Bodnar said that he had met with Przydacz several times on this matter – the last time on October 15 – and had never heard a “negative response” from the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.
“Presidents' contacts are important for Ukraine and Poland. I proposed several dates that were accepted by the Polish side for consideration. There was no negative response,” Bodnar emphasized.
Zelensky to Warsaw first?
He added that he was surprised when he heard that Nawrocki's visit to Ukraine would be impossible. The Ukrainian ambassador called the situation when a newly elected president makes his first visit to a neighboring country a normal diplomatic practice, Ukrinform emphasized.
The agency wrote that Gazeta Wyborcza reported on Sunday, citing its sources, that despite clear signals from Kiev, the Polish president does not intend to visit Ukraine. The daily drew attention to Przydacz's words spoken during one of the public events in Wrocław, where he said that such a visit was not planned.
“The Head of the Office of International Policy of the Republic of Poland also emphasized that this not Kiev, but Warsaw will set its own conditions, because Poland is a member of the EU and NATO, and Ukraine is not. Przydacz added that the President of the Republic of Poland expects specific actions and gestures from Kiev, especially in matters of difficult history and economy. The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland believes that the pace of exhumation work on Polish victims in Ukraine is too slow,” Ukrinform explained.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland confirmed in an interview with Gazeta Wyborcza that it is not preparing Nawrocki's visit to Kiev. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the only possible scenario for such a visit this year could be the president's participation in the burial of the exhumed remains of Polish victims in Volhynia, the Ukrainian agency added.
On Monday morning, Przydacz repeated on TVN24 that Nawrocki's visit to Kiev is not currently planned. According to him, if Zelensky wants to meet with Nawrocki, “there is nothing stopping him from getting on the train and coming to Warsaw for the meeting,” we read in the report.
Ukrinform recalled that after the inauguration on August 6, Karol Nawrocki had already made a number of foreign visits – including: in the United States (twice), in Italy, in the Vatican, in Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Germany and France. (PAP)
