What do Poles know about AI? There is a study

These data show that although public awareness of the development of artificial intelligence is growing, there is still a lack of technological education that would allow for better use of the potential of this tool for business – believe the authors of the report.
A study by K+Research and TRUMPF Huettinger shows that 28 percent respondents believe that AI has a “global memory” or a “central brain”, and as many as 23 percent thinks it works because of built-in awareness. Every fifth respondent believes that artificial intelligence obtains data from wiretaps, microphones and cameras in real time.
At the same time, there is a growing group of people who can accurately indicate the basics of how this technology works: 47 percent respondents know that AI is based on the analysis of huge data sets, 38 percent mentions learning algorithms, and 33 percent recognizes the role of modern data centers and high computing power. This last element is one of the key factors in the development of artificial intelligence. Technologies that make this possible are also being developed in Poland.
— Even the best AI algorithms are unable to operate effectively without a powerful computing base, such as data centers equipped with hundreds of thousands of semiconductor chips. Therefore, further development of artificial intelligence, as well as solutions based on it for business and consumers, will not be possible without appropriate infrastructure. Our engineers create solutions that are key in the production processes of chips and computing systems used in AI. By investing in them, Poland is building its position on the innovation map and becoming a strategic partner in the development of artificial intelligence in the world – says Rafał Bugyi, president of TRUMPF Hüttinger GmbH.

Between 2024 and 2025, the adoption of generative AI in business operations increased 1.8 times. Artificial intelligence is becoming one of the key investment directions also in Poland: 62 percent. companies from our country have increased their spending on AI2-based tools in the last year. For many of them, it is a way to accelerate development, optimize processes and strengthen their position on the market.
Consumers also notice the growing business activity in this field. The results of the study conducted by K+Research and TRUMPF Huettinger show that 41 percent Poles believe that Polish companies should continue to invest in this area.
Poland at the center of innovation
In June, the Ministry of Digitization announced the submission of an application to the European Commission regarding the construction of an artificial intelligence gigafactory – Baltic AI Gigafactory. The value of the project is EUR 3 billion and its aim is to create infrastructure that will enable the development, training and implementation of advanced AI models, as well as the combination of high computing power with low-emission data centers. Poland, along with Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia, plays a leading role in it.
