Attack on the Belgorod reservoir. Russian positions were underwater

The commander of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert “Madyar” Browdi, confirmed that Ukrainian drones attacked a dam on the Belgorod reservoir in the Russian Federation.

What were the effects of the Ukrainian drone attack?

What does the operation's codename mean?

Why were residents asked to evacuate?

Who confirmed the attack on the dam?

As he announced on social media, the operation led to damage to the structure and a drop in the water level in the reservoir by approximately one meter, and its effects are already being felt by Russian troops in the border region.

According to Browdie's account, the attack was carried out by pilots of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The operation, carried out by the so-called “Birds” from the 1st Independent Center for Unmanned Systems Forces, had an unusual code name: “Tama, hold on, just in case!”

As a result, the lock was damaged, which led to an uncontrolled outflow of water from the reservoir. Ukrainian and Russian channels published videos showing strong water flow through the destroyed part of the dam.

According to reports, the water level in the Belgorod reservoir has dropped by at least a meter and its shoreline has retreated by several meters.

The effects of the attack are already visible downstream of the Donets River. According to analysts quoted by Ukrainian media, an increase in the water level in the lower reaches of the river resulted in the flooding of part of the Russian positions in the Vovcha district in the Kharkiv Oblast.

In addition, some troops were cut off from the rest of the forces, which makes it difficult for them to defend themselves. “The units of the 128th, 116th, 68th and 136th Russian brigades, deployed along the riverbed, are already sounding the alarm and asking the command to take action. A large amount of military equipment may also be flooded,” OSINT Exilenova+ analysts reported.

In turn, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, confirmed that the dam had been damaged and therefore called on residents of nearby towns to voluntarily evacuate.

The Ukrainian command emphasizes that attacks on technical infrastructure on the Russian side are of a military nature and are aimed at the occupiers' positions, not at the civilian population.
