Bulgarian nationalists attacked a car in which they believed that Ursula von der Leyen

The Revival Nationalist Party tried to prevent the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to enter a weapon factory in the Bulgarian city of Sotop on Sunday, attacking a vehicle in which the gathered believed they were.
The leader of the Revival Party, Kostadin Kostadadinov, who previously requested the withdrawal of Bulgaria from NATO, organized demonstrations together with another nationalist party, Velichie, at the Vazov mechanical engineering plant and demanded the protection of national sovereignty, writes Euronews.
Kostadadinov was filmed while blocking a black vehicle and accusing the Bulgarian police of wanting it by car.
In a video that he distributed on social networks, you can see how the demonstrators wore Bulgarian and Russian flags surround the car.
The President of the European Commission was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Kostadadinov later stated that she arrived at the helicopter factory, not by car.
Despite the protests, Von Der Leyen continued his visit to the largest state military enterprise in Bulgaria, along with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and the leader of the Gerb Party, Boyko Borissov, as part of a tour of the first line, which included Poland and Finland.
“This is exactly the kind of project we want to see”, said von der Leyen during the factory visit. “It will bring good jobs in the region. Up to 1,000 new jobs will be created here, at Sotop, due to these projects, but we will increase the production of ammunition.”
The President of the European Commission has praised Bulgaria's plans to build a rifle dust factory and to expand the production of artillery howitzer. “The action for Europe's safety“(Safe) to accelerate the growth of the defense industry.
Von Der Leyen has repeatedly emphasized the need to strengthen the European defense capabilities following the wide -scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, which is now in the fourth year.
Kostadadinov previously accused Bulgarian political leaders of being “The servants” to von der leyen because “They betrayed” the public will and called it “symbol of the degradation of European civilization ”.
The supporters have previously vandalized the building of the European delegation in Sofia, throwing red paint and trying to fire the door.
Sunday protests represented the latest escalation of tensions between Bulgarian leadership and nationalist opposition groups that oppose EU defense initiatives.
