His leadership Bayern Munich she had to give up the idea of bringing him back Jerome Boateng (37 years old) within the club, after the fans reacted vehemently to his address. The former German international was to participate in an “internship” period in the technical staff, but this plan was abandoned following public pressure.

The complete schedule of the #8 Bundesliga round

Jerome Boateng, the former Bayern defender and world champion with Germany in 2014, was on the verge of returning to the Bavarian club's backyard, where he was supposed to be part of Vincent Kompany's technical staff.

This role did not involve a permanent commitment, but rather a period of accommodation and learning, where the 37-year-old former stopper would have attended first-team training and been involved in club activities, sharing his experiences with the players.

However, the plan was abruptly abandoned after Bayern fans protested the decision vehemently.

Jerome Boateng was banned from the Allianz Arena by the fans!

The main reason for the dissatisfaction is the controversial past of the German, who, in 2024, was involved in a criminal trial for physical assault on his former partner. He was found guilty of grievous bodily harm but only given a warning as he has no previous convictions.

Following the negative reactions, the club's management decided to cancel the invitation to Boateng. Bayern officials said they respect the fans' position and will not continue the collaboration in this form. The former defender, who played for Bayern for ten years and won no less than 22 trophies at the Allianz Arena, including two Champions Leagues, thus remains out of the club, at least for now.

In a statement published on Saturday evening, October 25, 2025, the Bavarians announced that Boateng's internship will no longer take place: “Following a constructive discussion between FC Bayern and Jerome Boateng this week, it was decided that the former footballer will no longer do a training session at the club. Jerome remains very attached to FC Bayern and does not want the club to suffer damage due to the current controversial talks about him“.

For his part, the former German international posted a message on social networks, explaining that his “internship” with Vincent Kompany is no longer a current topic: “Dear Bayern, Dear Vincent, following recent discussions about myself, I have decided to focus on getting my coaching license and other topics that are dear to me“.
