The current governing coalition is working and there are no reasons for it to be changed, replied President Nicușor Dan, when asked, in a press conference held on Friday evening in Iasi, what he will do if the change of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is requested.
“We have a coalition that has 65% in the Parliament and there is a government that has a prime minister. I don't see why this situation has to change. Of course there are conflicts in this coalition. I think they are legitimate. Each of the people could abstain. It happens that they don't abstain. We are people, human nature is diverse. This is the situation,” said President Nicușor Dan.
He insisted that the current coalition works, as evidenced by the rejection of the censure motions submitted by the opposition after assuming responsibility in Parliament for some of the measures in the first two packages aimed at reducing the budget deficit.
“This coalition in terms of concrete results works. There is a vote on projects that are agreed in advance that works. There have been opposition motions that have been rejected,” the president said.
Grindeanu, to Bolojan: “Let him go home if he continues to do the same procedure”
Tensions in the coalition erupted after the Constitutional Court on Monday rejected the magistrates' pension reform for which the Bolojan government took responsibility in Parliament.
PSD interim president Sorin Grindeanu claimed on Wednesday that if Ilie Bolojan will proceed as he did when the law was first adopted on the changes to magistrates' pensions, then he must go home.
“The moment you enter the second time without dialogue with the actors in the field, in which you don't even take into account the president's observations, in which you assume that you meet certain deadlines faster, you don't stay 30 days, but after 10 days you think that's enough, the moment you think that everything is played out in an area of personal pride, you assume this,” Grindeanu said.
“Let him go home if he continues to do the same procedure a second time without having a dialogue with all the actors, or at least take into account what the president of Romania says, then he must go home,” he concluded.
CCR admitted, on Monday, the notification of unconstitutionality of the High Court of Cassation and Justice on the law of the Bolojan Government amending the magistrates' pensions. The reason cited by CCR: lack of CSM's opinion.
