The legendary interwar Bucharest, the period from the two world wars in which the Capital experienced an unprecedented development, civilization and modernization, is closely linked to a man about whom little is spoken and known: the mayor Alexandru G. Donescu.
These are the years in which elegant boulevards, modern infrastructure, high-rise blocks (block houses) and new neighborhoods appeared in the city, modernist architecture, the clean-up of the Colentina lakes, a zest for life in the newly established “King Carol II” Park (Herăstrău).
Mayor Al contributed a lot to this modern and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Donescu.
