There will be more toll road sections. The government plans to raise almost PLN 3 billion

In 2026, the network of roads subject to toll collection will be expanded by approximately 645 km, revenues will increase by PLN 2.77 billion – the Ministry of Finance announced in information about the actions taken by Poland to implement the Council's recommendation under the excessive deficit procedure.


“It is expected that in December 2025, the network of national roads covered by the electronic toll collection system operating under the provisions of the Act of March 21, 1985 on public roads will be expanded. In Poland, all sections of class A and S roads, managed by the General Director of National Roads and Motorways, are intended to be covered by electronic tolling. As part of the next expansion of the toll road network, toll roads are planned to be included only selected road sections. The typing was carried out after surveying work was carried out by the National Council of Agriculture in order to optimize the location for virtual gantries of the toll collection system operating in GNSS technology,” it was written.
The Ministry of Finance said that the planned extension is a continuation of the policy of including newly built top-class roads in fees for vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons.
“Currently, the electronic toll is collected on approx. 5,225 km of national roads, and after the planned extension, the toll will be collected on approx. 5,869 km (extension by approx. 645 km). The base rate of the electronic toll will also change, which was not updated in the period from 2011 to 2021, but only indexed every year by the price increase of consumer goods and services” – written.
The Ministry of Finance announced that the estimated effect of the action in 2026 will amount to PLN 2,771 million. (PAP Business)
