“An ammunition production plant and an oil refinery were damaged. As part of weakening the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor, on the night of October 22, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked many strategic facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the Ukrainian headquarters said in an official statement.

According to the Ukrainian side, one of the targets of the attack was the Saransk Mechanical Plant in the Republic of Mordovia, where a series of explosions occurred. It is one of the key plants of the Russian arms industry, producing, among others, anti-personnel mines, mine-laying kits, detonators and ammunition fuses.
The second facility that was attacked was refinery in Makhachkala, the capital of the Republic of Dagestan in the North Caucasus. According to the General Staff of Ukraine, as a result of the impact, a hit was recorded in one of the processing installations. This refinery plays an important role in the logistics system of the Russian army – its main task is to supply fuel to the Russian Navy, store it for the Caspian Fleet base and refuel military ships. The plant's annual processing capacity is estimated at approximately one million tons of raw material.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to take all actions aimed at weakening the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor and forcing the Russian Federation to stop its armed aggression against Ukraine. To be continued! Glory to Ukraine,” the statement stressed at the end.

In recent months, the Ukrainian military has intensified operations targeting industrial and infrastructure targets located deep in Russia. Strikes using drones and missiles are intended to disrupt the production of military equipment and limit the Kremlin's ability to conduct military operations. According to analysts, the attacks on refineries and arms plants are part of Kiev's broader strategy aimed at weakening the logistics base of the Russian army and forcing Moscow to transfer resources deeper into the country.
