The first modules of the new Health Insurance Information Platform (PIAS) will be functional by the end of this year and by August 2026 the entire platform will be fully operational, announced the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, quoted by Agerpres.
“The new Health Insurance Informatics Platform (PIAS) is the largest digitization project in the history of the Romanian medical system – an investment of 100 million euros, financed by PNRR. It is a firm commitment of our team and a reform that we are carrying out (…) The first modules will be functional by the end of this year, and by August 2026, the entire platform will be fully operational”, wrote the Minister of Health on Facebook.
According to him, the new digital platform involves the following:
- eliminates typos and unnecessary papers;
- dispatch tickets, medical letters and leave will be completely digital, instantly available;
- the electronic file of the patient and the electronic prescription become functional and integrated;
- the medical history can be accessed anytime and anywhere – from the phone or computer.
“I know that, over the years, many lost their confidence when they heard the word 'digitalization'. But now it's different. The pace is accelerated, the work is visible, and the benefits will be felt directly in the life of every patient and every doctor. (…) But we work honestly, we listen to the system, we listen to the people and we correct on the fly. Because every day counts and every step forward means more trust in the public health system”, underlined Alexandru Rogobete.
