Traffic restrictions are maintained in the area affected by the explosion in Rahova. The police continue intervention and support operations

The Capital Police announces that intervention and support operations continued on Monday in the area affected by the explosion in the Rahova neighborhood.

There is total mobilization in the Rahova area, where the explosion that caused three deaths and several injuries took place on Friday.
Authorities on Monday continued their on-site search of the apartments destroyed by the explosion, belonging to owners who were not at the scene previously. Once they were contacted, the investigators were able to enter and carry out the necessary procedures.
The sanitization works of the facades of the affected blocks were also resumed, with the support of the fire crews.
At the same time, the perimeter of the parking lot located behind the affected building was examined and sanitized, in collaboration with the local public authorities.
In parallel, the tenants are supported in order to temporarily access the damaged apartments, for the recovery of personal belongings.
“Utility companies were allowed access to assess the faults in the infrastructure networks, as well as to achieve the separation between the utilities of the affected block and those of the neighboring buildings, with a view to resuming the supply to the citizens of the area. Monitoring the condition of the victims: of the 15 people who presented themselves at medical units in Bucharest, 8 are still hospitalized, under medical supervision”. the Capital Police announces.
Also, the Traffic Brigade of the Capital Police maintained temporary traffic restrictions in the following areas:
– Vicina Street (between Calea Rahovei and Oltina Street);
– Alleys adjacent to the affected buildings;
– Calea Rahovei – traffic lane 1 and part of the parking spaces, between Vicina and Malcoci streets.
Pedestrian access remains restricted on the sidewalk adjacent to the affected buildings. Road traffic is diverted to alternative routes, with the support of traffic police.
All these activities are carried out in parallel with the ongoing criminal investigation, including the on-site investigation and other procedures carried out by the Romanian Police, under the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
