The conversation captured between a firefighter and the representative of Distrigaz, immediately after the explosion in Rahova: “Well, since when has it been stopped?”

A recording made immediately after the explosion in Rahova shows the discussion between a firefighter and a Distrigaz representative, who claims that the gas supply had been stopped the day before, after leaks had been reported. The explosion caused the death of three people, including a pregnant woman. Another 15 people were seriously injured.

A strong explosion rocked a block in the Rahova neighborhood on Friday morning. The explosion affected three floors of an eight-level block, and the incident occurred at 9:07 am.
A recording made a few minutes after the explosion captures the discussion between the firefighters and a representative of the Distrigaz company, responsible for the distribution of natural gas. In the dialogue, it is mentioned that the gas supply had been stopped the day before, as a result of some detected leaks, according to Digi24.
Distrigaz employee: “We came to help, not to… and we asked everyone: “tell us what you want. That was it””
fireman: “Who are you? Apa Nova or who are you?”
Distrigaz employee: “The Distrigas.”
fireman: “You get in touch and turn off this gas zone for me.”
Distrigaz employee: “It's down, this area has been down since yesterday.”
fireman: “Well, since when is it off?”
Distrigaz employee: “Since yesterday after dinner.”
fireman: “Why?”
Distrigaz employee: “That there were losses. So all of that is stopped.”
Distrigaz Sud stated that the intervention teams were called on Friday morning to check the affected block. At the scene, it was found that the seal of the gas valve, which had been closed the day before, had been broken. Company representatives claim that their staff arrived exactly at the time of the explosion.
The explosion was so powerful that it was recorded by the seismic stations of the National Earth Physics Research and Development Institute.
The Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bucharest Court of Appeal took over the investigation in the case of the devastating explosion in Sector 5 of the Capital, produced on Friday morning at a block of flats in Rahova, as a result of which three people died and 13 others were injured
The file, initially registered at the Prosecutor's Office attached to the District Court of Bucharest 5, was taken over by the prosecutors from the Court of Appeal for the continuation of investigations in order to establish the causes and responsibilities.
The investigators carry out in rem investigations under the aspect of committing the crime of culpable destruction, provided by article 255 paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Criminal Code.
“In order to find out the judicial truth and establish the concrete circumstances that led to the explosion, as well as the identification of the responsible persons, specific means of evidence are administered for this type of cases: the on-site investigation, hearings of witnesses, collection of documents, technical expertise and any other means deemed to be conclusive and useful”. it is stated in the public prosecutor's statement.
