The Ukrainian military claims to have struck a Russian warship in the port of Novorossiysk on the night of April 5-6, as well as an oil rig in the Black Sea near occupied Crimea. The announcement was made by the commander of Kiev's drone forces, while the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, Oleksandr Sîrski, said that Ukraine had regained 480 km² of territory on the southeastern and eastern front since the end of January, Reuters reports.

According to Robert Madiar Brovdi, the commander of the unmanned systems forces, Ukrainian drones hit the Admiral Makarov frigate, equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles. Initially, the message published on social networks mentioned the frigate “Admiral Grigorovici”, but Brovdi later updated its statement after OSINT analysts signaled that it was in the Mediterranean Sea.
Brovdi stated that the Russian crew fired air defense missiles directly from the ship when the drones approached, but they could not prevent them from hitting the target. The operation was coordinated by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the extent of the damage is to be assessed by the intelligence services.
The SBU also claimed the attack on the floating oil platform “Sivas”, carried out in collaboration with the Ukrainian naval forces specialized in deep strikes. according to News.ro, which cites Reuters.
Russian authorities and public pages in Russia confirmed a drone attack on Novorossiisk during Sunday evening.
Ukraine claims to have regained 480 km² of territory
General Oleksandr Sîrski said that in the past two months, Ukraine has recaptured eight localities in the Dnipropetrovsk region and four in the Zaporizhia region. But he warned that Russia is continuing its spring offensive and regrouping its forces for new attacks.

Ukrainian counteroffensives complicate Russia's plans

In the Donetsk region, Russian troops continue to advance in the area of the city of Pokrovsk, a strategic logistics hub, where fighting has been intense since 2024. Sîrski recently visited the area and ordered additional ammunition and supplies for Ukrainian troops.
In parallel, Ukraine is stepping up its long-range attacks on Russian oil infrastructure. In the past two weeks, Baltic Sea ports and energy targets in the Leningrad region have been targeted.
