Will there be a DLC? Here's what we know so far

It's been a little over a year since Dragon's Dogma 2 has been launched. The dust has settled over Vermund, and the players still explore the world of the game-but a question floats in the air: where is the DLC?

Many fan have been convinced from the first day that Dragon's Dogma 2 will eventually receive an expansion. The first game received one, after all – the famous Dark Arisen appeared less than a year after the initial launch.

And if we look at the historian Capcom in terms of post-launch content (series like Monster Hunter being good examples), it was natural to expect something similar here.

A promising start, then silence

Dragon's Dogma 2 launched on March 22, 2024 and, despite leaks such as unnecessary microtransaccations and performance problems, the game was a commercial and critical success.

However, after more than a year, nothing officially related to additional content was announced. No plan, no teaser, not even a vague promise of the type “we work on something”.

This silence frustrated the fans, especially since the expansion of Dark Arisen came just 11 months after the first Dragon's Dogma.

Comparatively, DD2 has already exceeded that term, and lack of communication does not help.

Reddit theories

However, there are signs that something is planned behind the scenes. In September 2024 more users of Reddit They noticed changes in the encrypted files on Steam-updates delivered by Capcom without any official announcement.

According to them, it was not ordinary patches. There were updates at the developer level, related to places “placeholder” or hidden content – probably preparations for a future DLC.

Official? Capcom has not promised anything more than performance improvements. Technically speaking, they did not deceive anyone – they maintained the expectations at a “manageable” (and vague) level.

But among the old fans of the series, faith remains strong:

“DD2 sold better than DD1. They can't leave things like that,”
– Say a Reddit user.

And it's not just hope. From a financial point of view, it makes sense for Capcom to build on the basis of a successful title.

And if we take the observed pattern-the changes on Steam, the prolonged peace, the rare patches-we have every reason to believe that something is working.

So will there be a DLC?

It is understandable if Capcom wants to wait a little after the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, that the DLC potential for Dragon's Dogma 2 will receive all the attention, without being shadowed by another big title.

Capcom is known for his silent style-followed by great disclosures at once.

Until then, the wait continues. Many fans hope that I have not seen everything Dragon's Dogma 2 has to offer.

And until Capcom does not say clearly, “this was” the door remains open.
