“Another great chance for peace. And it's only Thursday!” – said the Hungarian Prime Minister on Facebook.

In a Wednesday interview for the Mandiner weekly, Orban announced that he would meet Trump “soon.” In the same conversation, he commented on Trump's diplomatic efforts in the context of the peace plan for the Gaza Strip signed in Sharm el-Sheikh by the leaders of the US, Turkey, Egypt and Qatar.

— Since Trump returned to the White House, a global network of leaders has grown to seek peaceful solutions to every armed conflict. Hungary is part of this alliance. Currently, more than 12 leaders provide mutual support for peace, Orban argued. Referring to the war in Ukraine, he added that “President Trump would have made peace a long time ago if European leaders had not continued to incite (Ukrainian President) Volodymyr Zelensky.”

— If we played on the same team as the Americans, we would already have peace. But European leaders want to continue the war; They have their own strategy and plan, said the Hungarian Prime Minister.

President Trump announced Thursday after a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he would meet with him in Budapest. The talks are expected to take place after a “meeting of high-level delegations of both countries” next week. During the meeting in Hungary, the leaders will try to “put an end to this 'infamous' war between Russia and Ukraine,” according to a post by Trump on his own social media platform, Truth Social.
