Stelian Bujduveanu, the interim mayor of the Capital, says that his party should show Romanians where the money it spends on the media goes. “The worst thing is when we say “it's not possible, the law won't let us”. Who writes the law?”, said the liberal in an interview in the HotNews.ro studio.

“You talk about the need to show the public where the money of the Capital City Hall goes. Do you think that such a discussion is also needed regarding the money that comes to the party also from citizens' taxes?”, was the question of journalist Laurenţiu Ungureanu, in the interview given by Stelian Bujduveanu.

“Yes, of course. I think that, if we want to regain the trust of the citizens, we must have a much more transparent approach and overcome those bureaucratic blockages. However difficult they may be. With lawyers, with interpretations, with changes in the law”, answered Stelian Bujduveanu, the interim mayor of the Capital.

It's the worst”

He claims that it is “the worst” when politicians justify the lack of transparency regarding citizens' money by citing the fact that the law does not allow it.

“The worst thing is when we, as politicians or administration people, say “it's not possible, because the law doesn't let us”. And the question is: who writes the law? Not the whole Parliament?”, Bujduveanu pointed out in the dialogue on HotSpot, the political show on HotNews.ro.

Stelian Bujduveanu is the interim mayor of the capital, after Nicusor Dan was elected president of Romania, but he has no official position in the leadership of PNL Bucharest. During the mandate of Nicușor Dan, he held the position of deputy mayor.

At the moment, Bujduveanu is being circulated as a possible candidate for the position of mayor for the elections in the capital.

His leader on the party line left the press conference

The first vice-president of the PNL and the mayor of Sector 6, Ciprian Ciucu, left the press conference he was holding at the Parliament after only four minutes, when he was asked by the journalist Snoop Cristian Andrei about the contracts that the PNL has with the media institutions.

Ciucu said that “PNL respects the law”, and these data will be made public after they are discussed in the party's Executive Office. He did not answer the journalist's repeated questions, and at one point he said that he had made an “obsession” regarding the parties' contracts with the press.

Ilie Bolojan: “I answered you. Thank you”

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan also refused to give an answer regarding the sums spent on the media by the PNL in the electoral campaigns, threatening, instead, that he would do the same as Mayor Ciprian Ciucu and leave the press conference organized at the Victoria Palace.

“I can answer you in this building on issues related to government activity or activities that have a direct role in the coalition, in government activity, I have answered you, thank you. Thank you”, answered the prime minister to the question of journalist David Leonard Bularca.

At the insistence of the HotNews.ro reporter, who asked again why PNL refuses to make public the information about the money spent with the press, Bolojan replied: “I answered you, thank you. So, if you continue, I also take Mr. Ciucu's attitude, I don't think he would be respectful towards our colleagues.”
