In connection with developments in the field of agriculture, the issue of training personnel for this industry has become acute. On October 14, 1930, the Birobidzhan district party committee adopted a resolution “On the recruitment of the technical school of socialist agriculture”.

The Agricultural College became the first educational institution in the Biro-Bidzhan national region. It was opened in December 1930 in the village. Ekaterino-Nikolsky, and officially it was called the technical school of socialist agriculture. In the building of the former military commandant's office, 50 students began their first academic year. They not only studied, but also repaired tractors and built an educational building on their own on the central estate of the state farm.

In 1933, an educational building was built. In 1933-1934 there were already two departments for training mechanics and agronomists. The first graduation of specialists took place in 1935.

The technical school existed in Ekaterino-Nikolsky for 11 years. In May 1939, the executive committee of the regional Council of Workers' Deputies made a decision “On the construction of the Birobidzhan College of Agricultural Mechanization in Birobidzhan.”

Since 1941, the technical school was located in Birobidzhan. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, most of the teachers and students went to the front, and the technical school was temporarily closed; it opened its doors again in 1952.

In 1960, the educational institution was transferred to the central estate of the Babstovsky state farm. The building of a military hospital was allocated there as an educational building.

The specialties for which personnel were trained for the villages also expanded. During the Soviet years, this educational institution was especially in demand – the agricultural field required many specialists.

In the 90s, the oldest educational institution lost its popularity. The zootechnical department had to be closed, and enrollment in other specialties was reduced.

In 2008, the Birobidzhan Agricultural College was included in the All-Russian Register “The Best Secondary Educational Institutions in Russia.”

In 2013, the agricultural technical school changed its address – it was transferred to the village. Leninskoe, merging with the local vocational school. The government of the Jewish Autonomous Region adopted a resolution that states: “To reorganize by merging the regional state budgetary educational institution of secondary vocational education “Birobidzhan Agricultural Technical School”, forming the regional state budgetary institution of secondary vocational education “Agricultural Technical School. Leninsky”.
