“Traditionally associated with autumn weekends, city breaks in the country seem to tempt fewer and fewer people, but other regions are benefiting. (…) Even though in Gdańsk Whether Poznań there are fewer customers, there are also metropolises that are doing better than in 2024 – e.g. Wrocław Whether Warsaw. Because we are looking for savings not in the room price, but in the length of stay,” said the report by the Travelist.pl booking portal.

In the case of the so-called City breaks, i.e. short trips (e.g. weekend trips) to another city, are mainly chosen by tourists Cracow and Gdańsk – these two cities are responsible for nearly 60 percent. all bookings included in the report. The capital of Lesser Poland recorded a 3% increase in interest compared to last year, but the popularity of Gdańsk decreased by 48% year-on-year. The third most popular city for such trips is Warsaw, which after an 8% increase is responsible for 14%. all bookings.

As indicated by the publication, the largest year-on-year increase in bookings was recorded in Wrocław, where the number of tourists booking a stay increased by more than half this fall. The largest declines occurred in Poznań and Łódź, which recorded a decline of 40 and 37 percent, respectively. compared to 2024

“Although individual cities are gaining in popularity, looking at the whole, fewer and fewer customers decide to plan an autumn city break in Poland. Currently, the number of reservations between September and November is as much as 22% lower compared to the previous year. At the same time, other regions – mountains, the Baltic Sea and lakes – collectively record an increase in visitors by 8% y/y,” she said, quoted in publication, Eliza Maćkiewicz from Travelist.

She added that the total value of reservations in cities decreased year-on-year by 12%, or by an average of PLN 137 per night.

The average cost of this type of trip for one night for two people with breakfast is PLN 472 in the case of at least a three-star hotel. That's 3 percent. less than in 2024. The most expensive trips were to Białystok (by 12%; to PLN 367) and Gdańsk (by 5%; to PLN 417). Prices increased for trips to Łódź (by 68%; to PLN 519), Kraków (by 23%; to PLN 501), Wrocław (by 13%; to PLN 469) and Warsaw (12%; to PLN 551).

According to the analysis, this year Poles spend on average two nights on an autumn city break. The exception is Białystok and Toruń, where most people go for three nights.

The report covers hotel reservations in Poland made until September 30, for stays in the period from September 1 to November 30 in 2024-2025. The prices quoted refer to the cost of one hotel day with breakfast for two people. (PAP)
