Man detained after his wife received a package sent from Switzerland. What was in the package

The policemen of the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service ordered on Tuesday, December 16, the measure of detention, for 24 hours, against a 38-year-old man from the municipality of Galati, investigated for committing the crime of qualified smuggling, after a package arrived from Switzerland in the name of his wife.

“In fact, on December 14 this year, in the parking lot of a shopping center in the city of Galati, the police found a 36-year-old woman red-handed, immediately after she allegedly came into possession of a package sent from Switzerland, through a freight and passenger transport company”, states, on Wednesday, in a press release, the Romanian Police.

Inside the package, hidden in a box, were discovered three lethal weapons, caliber 7.5 × 55 mm, in working order, subject to the authorization regime.

The weapons would have been shipped by the woman's husband, a 38-year-old man, who thought that by resorting to this trick to bring them into the country, he would not attract the attention of the law enforcement officers.

During the day of December 17, the man is to be presented to the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Galati Court, with the proposal of taking a preventive measure.
