Ioan Ovidiu Sabău, 57, says he wanted to leave U Cluj's bank because he “felt guilty” for the recent series of results and the way he showed the team's game. Eventually, it will continue that A1 at the Cluj Arena band.

With U Cluj defeated by Csikszereda, the first victory of the newly promoted this season, coach Ioan Ovidiu Sabău announced, live on TV, that he will go to the negotiation table to terminate the contract with the University. Subsequently, the parties settled at the negotiating table, but the decision taken at the end of the discussion hours was to continue together, reports on Saturday GSP.ro.

A few days away, after the waters calmed down, Sabău offered his point of view, talking about what he believes he contributed to the bad season of the University, notes GSP.ro.

“There were many injuries. In the first 6 stages I played without a central defender and without right defender. They played the central midfielders there. Some of the most efficient players – Blănuță, Thiam and Masoero. It is not easy when you have so many problems. You lose matches, then you lose your confidence. I felt that the players need something else and, to help the team and all that our club and our fans mean, I said it is best to leave, “said Ioan Ovidiu Sabău at Sport Total FM.

Sabău's goal remains the qualification of the team in the play-off, which also succeeded in the previous season. At the resumption of the championship, U will receive the visit of the leader FC Botosani.

U Cluj ranks 10th in Superliga, with 14 points accumulated in the first 12 stages.
