In an interview with the Polish Press Agency, Malinowski emphasized that over PLN 1.2 billion from KPO has already been transferred to the carrier's accounts. “Our contract is worth PLN 2.1 billion. There is no risk that we will not use these funds. Our rolling stock investments are, so to speak, at such a pace that we will definitely complete these tasks.” – noted the president of PKP Intercity. He also added that the company is ready for a possible increase in financing if such an opportunity arises.
The funds from the KPO are to be used for the purchase of 56 modern locomotives worth PLN 1 billion and the modernization of 248 wagons of various types, which will cost PLN 1.2 billion. The support agreement with KPO was signed in October 2024 with the Center for EU Transport Projects (CUPT). The non-repayable aid amounts to PLN 2.16 billion, and the level of co-financing from EU funds exceeds 94%. eligible expenses.
So far, PKP Intercity has received three tranches of funds. The first one, in the amount of PLN 874.5 million, was received in April 2025. Subsequent tranches, amounting to over PLN 147 million and PLN 202 million, respectively, were credited to the company's account in May and August of the same year.

According to the company's forecasts, the number of passengers is expected to increase to 84 million this year and to 110 million by 2030.
The KPO used by PKP Intercity is a wide-ranging plan aimed at strengthening the Polish economy. It includes 57 investments and 54 reforms, and Poland was granted EUR 59.8 billion, of which EUR 25.27 billion are subsidies and EUR 34.54 billion in preferential loans.
