IKEA in Poland closed the 2025 financial year with better results than the previous year (sales increased and profitability increased). Interestingly, the company performed better even though it employed fewer people. There is also a clear change in the strategy: instead of focusing only on giant halls, the brand wants to move into smaller formats and online trade.

The numbers for the financial year ended in August 2025 show that the revenues of IKEA Retail in our country reached PLN 6.273 billion (the previous year it was PLN 6.109 billion), which is an increase of approximately 2.7%. However, the real rally was achieved by operating and sales results – sales profit almost doubled; increased from PLN 253.2 million to PLN 502.7 million. In turn, the operating result increased by over 88%, reaching PLN 502.3 million from PLN 266.5 million – we read on the website dlahandlu.pl

All profit indicators (gross and net) increased significantly. Gross profit improved by nearly 59%, reaching PLN 462.5 million, and net profit increased by 12.7% to PLN 371.5 million. This is clear proof that 2025 will be a time for IKEA not only of greater trade, but above all of improving the efficiency of the entire business.

IKEA employed an average of 5,277 people during this periodi.e. 4 less than a year earlier. Although this is a symbolic change, it shows that the chain no longer needs to expand its staff in stationary stores to generate higher profits.

On the other hand, the company boasts of taking care of its current team. It allocated PLN 54 million for raises and benefits in 2025. The chain also ensures equal pay (the pay gap is only 1.29%) and enjoys greater employee loyalty – turnover decreased from 16.6% to 13.9%.

However, the biggest change can be seen in the approach to the customer. For years, IKEA was a “trip” out of town for the whole day – getting there, a maze between shelves, meatballs in the restaurant and a fight in the warehouse. This model still exists, but it is no longer the only way.

Ingka Group (store operator) plans to open 20 compact locations in six months, and Poland is on this list. A smaller store will be opened in Białystok, inside a shopping mall, later this year. This shows a new trend: IKEA is entering smaller cities and using existing buildings instead of building its own from scratch.

These new points will be much smaller – from 2 to 4 thousand square meters. They are intended to help large stores, not completely replace them. After 2026, the company will check how this experiment turned out and decide what to do next.

IKEA in Poland has not only 12 large stores, but also 17 planning studios, over 50 collection points (including mobile ones), parcel lockers and strong remote sales. IKEA is building a whole network of contact points, where the large store is the center, but it is also just one of the elements. Although large halls are still the basis, online shopping is officially becoming the second pillar of IKEA – we read further on the website dlahandlu.pl
