In Mexico, heavy rains, floods and landslides have killed dozens of people. Photo

The states of Hidalgo, Puebla, Veracruz and Queretaro were destroyed. Hundreds of people were forced to evacuate, and 320 thousand subscribers were left without electricity.

The worst casualties were in Hidalgo (22 people died there) and Veracruz (five dead), where about 17 thousand houses, schools and hospitals were damaged, and roads remained blocked due to landslides. The Mexican government deployed more than 5 thousand military personnel to evacuate, clear roads and restore power supplies.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said the government is working to support the population and restore infrastructure and electricity.

Authorities are linking the heavy rains to post-tropical Cyclone Priscilla, which was formerly a hurricane, and Tropical Storm Raymond, both off Mexico's west coast in the Pacific Ocean. Forecasters warn that heavy rain could continue into the weekend.
