France's new prime minister is expected to be announced on Friday evening


The meeting of the leaders of French political parties with President Emmanuel Macron ended at the Elysée Palace on Friday. One of the parliamentary groups – LIOT – as reported by PAP, reported that the president will announce the name of the new prime minister in the coming hours.
The meeting at the Elysée Palace lasted almost 2.5 hours.

As Reuters reminds, 47-year-old President Macron is looking for sixth prime minister in less than two years and will need to find someone who will be attractive to both the center-right and center-left to be able to get the 2026 budget through a divided and fractious parliament.
Before the meeting, the president's office at the Elysée Palace said the meeting must be a “moment of collective responsibility,” which political commentators quickly interpreted as a signal that the president could call early parliamentary elections if a candidate could not be found that could achieve unanimity.
