Tesla under the microscope of the Donald Trump administration. Cars were driving against the flow

Tesla said it was aware of 58 reports of electric cars committing such violations, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents, the BBC reports.
An estimated 2.9 million cars equipped with fully autonomous driving technology will be subject to investigation. NHTSA's initial assessment will “assess the scope, frequency and potential safety implications” of Full Self-Driving (Supervised).
In this mode – which costs extra for Tesla owners – cars can change lanes and turn, but drivers must always be alert to take control at a moment's notice.
Tesla cars drove against traffic
The highway authority said Tesla took action “to address an issue” of cars running red lights at an intersection in Maryland where the problem had occurred repeatedly. The agency will also investigate reports of vehicles swerving into the opposite lane while turning.
The report said some of the reported incidents “did not provide the driver with sufficient information or the opportunity to intervene.”
Tesla's problems
Tesla is already under NHTSA investigation into its car door locking mechanisms after child entrapment was reported in its Model Y cars.
Tesla recently unveiled cheaper models of two of its most popular cars in an attempt to compete with cheaper electric vehicles often made by Chinese companies.
Its boss, Elon Musk, who recently became the world's first “semi-billionaire”, was once a close ally of President Donald Trump before publicly falling out with him at the beginning of the year.
