“The Secretary of State Marco Rubio met on Wednesday with the Romanian Foreign Minister, Oana Țoiu. The two discussed elements of the bilateral strategic dialogue, including consolidated cooperation in the fields of defense, energy and security at the border,” the US State Department said in a press release.

Rubio appreciated the efforts of Romania to respect their commitments regarding the defense expenses and “the role of security supplier to the Black Sea”, it is shown in the statement attributed to the main deputy spokesman, Tommy Pigott.

“Also, the Secretary of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed the involvement of American companies in Romanian projects in the field of civil nuclear energy and natural gas, as well as additional opportunities for economic cooperation,” concludes the US Department.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, met in Washington on Wednesday night with the head of American diplomacy, Marco Rubio. Oana Țoiu cataloged the meeting as a “excellent”.

“It was an excellent meeting because for both Romania and the United States, our strategic partnership is important, both in the security part and in the common energy projects and in human ties, in fact, which have developed against this confidence built by the strategic partnership. “We agreed together that it is very important for this presence to continue its role not only for Romania, but also for the region, in fact,” said Ţoiu. The head of the Romanian diplomacy added that they discussed, in terms of defense, of “the production related to the military area of ​​armament and current investments, but also the opportunities for future investment in Romania”.
