US President Donald Trump has defended his commercial policy and assured that the customs tariffs he imposed on countries and territories “brought peace in the world”, informs the Spanish press agency EFE.
“Having the ability to manage trade and use tariffs to clear the point of view has brought peace into the world. The rates have brought peace to the world,” Trump said in a telephone interview for Fox News, in which he informed about the agreement between Israel and Hamas regarding the war in Fâșia Gaza.
The American leader was asked about “his efforts to bring peace into the world” and about his relationships with the Arab countries that led to this agreement and emphasized the role of his commercial policy.
“Not only here, but also in many other agreements. We have concluded seven peace agreements, in which the countries fought, in many cases, for 30 or 31 years, 135 or 137 years, and in which millions were killed. I obtained peace and I did, not in all cases, but probably in at least five of the seven,”
Donald Trump usually claims that he has put an end to seven international conflicts: Cambodia-Thailand, Kosovo-Serbia, Democratic Republic of Congo-Rwanda, Pakistan-India, Israel-Iran, Egypt-ethiopia and Armenia-Azerbaijan.
During the interview, the leader of the White House defended his strict commercial vision as part of the foreign policy and his diplomacy to conclude agreements with other countries and to end the conflicts.
“We will not treat people who quarrel. We will not do business and impose them rates. We will not allow them to trade in the United States. We will impose tariffs,” he commented.
“Much more important than the money we get, which are essentially billions of dollars, which is much more important is that the rates offer you an extraordinary way to peace and saving millions, simply millions and millions,” concluded the head of the White House.
Ever since he started his commercial war, President Trump has signed commercial agreements with several countries such as the United Kingdom, South Korea, Cambodia, Thailand or the European Union.
