In this context, the Botosani sheep want to bring back the benefits of the traditional port of sheep's skins in the contemporary world and establish new luxury trends in the fashion of the 21st century. In Botosani, through a collaboration between a renowned research institution for creating a unique breed at European level and sheep breeders in the extreme north of Moldova, the most valuable lamb skins are transformed into clothing but also for decorative, top textiles, which tend to become the latest inner and design. Some of them have prices that pass several thousand euros and a quality that is difficult to match.

The modern industry has found that wool has hygroscopic properties, that is, it absorbs water, without giving the feeling that it is wet and is also a good insulator against the hot summer days or the cold winter. Various accessories, but also for the beneficial effects on the skin of the body and hair.says engineer doctor Cristina Zaharia.
Karakul, from the steppes of Asia just to Botosani
The resort for research of sheep and goats from Popăuţi, from Botosani county, is unique in the European Union, especially by creating the Karakul de Botosani breed, a result of the crossings of Asian races. It all started in 1925 when a few great farmers in Botosani with funds from the Ministry of Agriculture, from that time, bring the first 75 rams in Russia. Karakul is a race specific to Central Asia, with a number of special features, especially long hair, elongated head and abundant fat. Until 1948, the herds increased, reaching up to several hundred heads. Through genetic crossings made in the scientific way, after about four decades of research and work, at a new breed, Karakul de Botosani arrived. This breed was approved in 1988 and remained, due to its special qualities, unique at European level.
