In Minusinsk, police detained a courier of telephone scammers who stole 200 thousand rubles from a pensioner. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region spoke about this.

An 84-year-old minus woman turned to law enforcement for help. An elderly woman told law enforcement officers that the day before, unknown people called her and said that her granddaughter was the culprit of the accident. The swindlers promised to help a relative of a pensioner avoid criminal liability and asked for 200 thousand rubles for this.

The elderly Minusinka complied with the demands of the callers and handed over the money to the courier; after a while she realized that she had become a victim of scammers.

“After studying the recordings from CCTV cameras and tracking the route, police officers detained the suspect in committing this crime. The courier turned out to be a 30-year-old local resident,” law enforcement officials said.

The police found out that the woman was looking at job search advertisements on the Internet; in one of the messengers she was offered a job as a courier. At the same time, Minusinka explained to the police officers that she knew very well that she was acting on the orders of scammers.

A criminal case was opened against the accomplice of the swindlers under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”. The investigation is currently ongoing, the circumstances of the case and the persons involved in the commission of this crime are being established.
