The leader of Belgrade was declared “Shocked” The gesture of Ankarea and claimed that it is a violation of several international documents, including the UN Charter and the resolutions of the Security Council, reports Politico.
“Now it is clear that Turkey is not interested in the stability in the Western Balkans and dreams again to the restoration of the Ottoman Empire,” wrote Vučić on social networks.
According to the agreement of the UN Security Council of 1999, the prohibition on the sale of weapons to Kosovo does not apply to materials for international civil and security forces.
The relationships between Belgrade and Ankara remain tense. Turkey was one of the first countries to recognize Kosovo independence in 2008, and maintains active cooperation with the authorities of Pristina. However, the economic partnership between the two states is shaded by deep historical and political contradictions.
The recent statements of the Serbian president come against the background of deteriorating the situation in the northern Kosovo, where, in recent years, sporadic clashes have taken place between Serbian communities and Kosovo security forces, fears about regional stability.
Ankara did not officially comment on the charges.
