The International Agency for Atomic Energy (AIEA) announced that its team from the Nuclear Power Plant, located in southern Ukraine and which is the largest in Europe, heard more bombing on Monday, which amplifies the risk of catastrophic consequences, according to Reuters and UNN press agencies, quoted by Agerpres.

Rafael Grossi, the head of this UN nuclear supervision body, warns in a post on the X platform that these bombings increase the risks of nuclear security at the Zaporojie power plant, which has been operating without external power due to a damaged electrical line.

According to AIEA experts, two projectiles fell at a distance of 1.25 km from the perimeter of the boiler, after a series of shots in the vicinity of the Zaporojie plant.

The Ukrainian press agency UNN has previously reported that the general manager of AIEA bears negotiations with both Russia and Ukraine to restore the external power supply of the nuclear power plant.

The Russian forces occupied the boiler in 2022, shortly after President Vladimir Putin ordered the “special military operation” to Ukraine and sent tens of thousands of soldiers to the neighboring country. Russia has since controlled the nuclear power plant in Zaporojie.
