The Russian delegation arrived in Istanbul for negotiations with Ukraine. The parties will meet in the Palace of Dolmabakhche, where three years ago. Near the building, crowds of journalists and cars with security forces and military are on duty. Patrols and armored vehicles are also in the city.
The start of negotiations is expected after lunch. The night before, Vladimir Putin held a meeting, participated by Sergey Shoigu, Sergey Lavrov, Andrey Belousov, Viktor Zolotov, Valery Gerasimov, Alexander Bortnikov and commanders of the groups of troops in the war zone.
The Washington Post wrote that Zelensky wanted to refuse Ukraine to participate in peace negotiations the day before. But American and European officials dissuaded him from this.
