PHOTO Dacia presented the hipster concept, one of the smallest electric cars of city ever imagined

Dacia has presented a concept-car called hipster, an electric machine that is much smaller and lighter than Spring and has four places. The company describes the car as having a “memorable” design and as “ultra-accessible” and “ultra-essential”.
Sandero is just over 4 meters long, Dacia Spring is 3.7 meters long, and the new concept is only three meters long.
Dacia had announced a few months ago that in 2026 it would launch a new electric city model, a model to be produced in Europe and have a very affordable price.
Now, Dacia has presented the hipster concept, which the British from the bus describe as “shorter than a Fiat 500 and easier than a Mazda MX-5”.

With the Dacia Hipster Concept, Dacia says that it wants to address “to a general public that does not find today a suitable offer for the budget available. The average price of a new vehicle has increased in Europe by 77% between 2010 and 2024 – far above the growth rate of purchase power”.
“The Dacia Hipster Concept offers everything you need from a daily car, in a format of only 3 m long, 1.53 m high and 1.55 m wide: 4 real places and a modular luggage with a volume between 70 and 500 liters,” says Stéphanie Chiron, Dacia advanced product.
Hipster is 20% lighter than the Spring model.

Dacia Hipster Concept offers real transport capacity in an ultra-compact format-a unique, non-existent offer so far on the market.
“Thought for real life, Dacia Hipster Concept adapts to all daily situations. The folding rear seat allows the luggage volume to be adapted from 70 liters (with 4 passengers) to 500 liters (with 2 passengers). For an extra comfort and safety, the dashboard integrates two airbags,” says the company.
What Dacia says about design
“In the approach to reinvent the true popular car, our ambition was to offer you an expressive and memorable design. A car you can draw from three lines, says Romain Gauvin, Advanced Design Director & Dacia Exterior Design.”

Dacia Hipster Concept is noted for a very simple and robust design: a well-placed block on 4 wheels, located in the 4 corners. There are no consoles, neither in front nor in the back.
Dacia Hipster Concept is noted for a very simple and robust design: a well-placed block on 4 wheels, located in the 4 corners. There are no consoles, neither in front nor in the back.

The simplicity is also found in the design of the front, which is completely horizontal, integrating the narrow headlights, which gives it a serious but friendly “look”.
The functionality is a priority in the back: the tailgate covers the entire width of the vehicle and opens in two parts, offering extremely practical access to the trunk.

Fideling the principle “design to cost”, Dacia proposes an innovative design for the rear optical blocks: integrated behind the tailgate's rear, they do not require their own case, say Dacia.

In the same logic, the Dacia Hipster Concept is made in a single body color, pigmented in mass, with only three pieces of painted appearance: the front and the side elements of the doors.
Dacia Hipster Concept is not a car like any other. It aims to offer what is essential, and this is seen from the first contact: the outer handle of the door is replaced with a strap – easier, more economical … and as practical.
What Dacia says about the interior
The interior is optimized to provide a remarkable space, compared to its compact outer dimensions.
The passenger compartment follows faithfully the cubic shape of the body, the side windows and the windscreen being almost vertical, to maximize the available space. The front of the ceiling is glazed, emphasizing the feeling of brightness and space. To reduce costs and weight, the side windows are sliding.
Four adults can travel comfortably in Dacia Hipster Concept. The driver and front passenger are placed in a position identical to that of Dacia Sandero, which ensures optimal comfort and visibility. Access to the rear seats is facilitated by the wide opening of the door and is achieved by folding the front passenger seat.

Dacia has paid special attention to the design of the chairs, to combine comfort and conviviality with reducing weight and costs. The structure of the chairs remains visible, being completed by a technical textile material, pleasant to the touch. The front seats are joined in a banquet-a simple and welcoming solution, reminiscent of the folk-folk models of the past. In addition, perforated headrests contribute to the optimization of the mass.
Thought for real life, Dacia Hipster Concept adapts to all daily situations. The folding rear seat allows to adapt the volume of the trunk from 70 liters (with 4 passengers) up to 500 liters (with 2 passengers). For extra comfort and safety, the dashboard integrates two airbags.
