It is not for the first time that the president of the SOS party is cited by prosecutors. At previous terms, Soșoaca refused to present himself, invoking the fact that he was abroad and that his lawyer could not participate.
In a public message, the MEP accused “Pressure and abuse” from the state institutions and claimed that the file has political motivations.
“I want it to be very clear: I have never stolen from any investigation and I will never do it. But I do not accept and I will not accept that justice be transformed into a political stick against me and against the party I lead, SOS Romania! Your threats do not scare me! said the driver.
She also sent a direct message to prosecutors, accusing her of trying to silence it and warning that she would publicly denounce the alleged abuses.
Challenge for the Attorney General
The driver went on and challenged the Attorney General of Romania, Alex Florence, on a television debate. She invited to participate in an show organized on her online channel, in which to discuss the legislation on xenophobia, anti -Semitism and fascism.
“You have a deadline until Sunday 05.1025, at 8:00 pm, to take a course of invitation or to show, by your refusal, that you are afraid of a woman and that you position yourself against democracy, rejecting the free exchange of ideas.” transmitted the driver.
Prosecutor General's reaction to the non -presentation of Diana Şoșoaca
For his part, prosecutor General Alex Florence confirmed to Digi24 that the Şoșoaca did not show up at the hearings, reasoning that he was in Brussels. He stated that the General Prosecutor's Office has already submitted a request to the President of the European Parliament for lifting the parliamentary immunity of the MEP.
“The person cited by us presented an argument for today's non -presentation, in the sense that he is in Brussels and asked for postponement at another time. This does not prevent us in carrying out the other necessary procedures, in this case the parliamentary immunity,” Alex Florence explained.
