We are receiving good signals from Europe

“It is very important that this be pressure, in particular, on the Russian tanker fleet, on the entire infrastructure of Russian oil exports. This will greatly help us all in Europe if Russian revenues are cut off even more,” Zelensky noted.

He emphasized that the Russian Federation already has colossal new problems with the federal budget, also with inflation, and with economic indicators.

“These are all good, correct signals for peace to come. The more difficult it is for Russia, the closer peace is,” Zelensky added.

Context

Sanctions against the aggressor country Russia were introduced in response to its attack on Ukraine back in 2014. After the full-scale invasion of Russian troops on February 24, 2022, restrictions were significantly expanded.

The European Union introduced already 19 sanctions packages, the last of which was approved by the EU Council on October 23, 2025. It included restrictions against Russian banks and crypto exchanges, as well as individual entities in India and China. In addition, the EU restricted the movement of Russian diplomats, introduced new measures regarding the oil and gas and financial sectors of the Russian Federation, its “shadow fleet”, and also banned the import of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).
