Anders Zorn was one of the most appreciated portraits of his time – kings, presidents, bankers and cultural personalities wanting to order portraits painted by him, and his engravings were sold for larger amounts than any other artist.

Zorn, born in a modest family in the village of Mora, in 1860, was internationally imposed as one of the most important portrait painters, but the Swedish is also famous for his watercolors and nudes. The representations of Zorn of the Rustic Life and Habits of the Province of Dalarna are striking illustrations of the Swedish national identity and idealized rural life.
