The movement marks the second deployment of B-1B Lancer bombers in the Indo-Pacific region this calendar year, indicating the increasing level of importance that the White House gives to the US Air Superiority in Asia.

At least two strategic bombers with long range of Rockwell B-1B Lancer of the United States Air Force Lancer 9, from Texas (AFB) Air Base, flew over the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday, and landed at the Misawa Air Base in Japan, the American magazine The National Interest reports.

Pacific Air Force (PACAF) have announced that bombers, aviators and support equipment have been sent to Japan as part of the first Task Force (BTF) rotation mission.

The mission, called BTF 25-2, will probably last for about six weeks. During this time, the aircraft will go through training exercises along with regional allies and partners, in a signal meant to show the US commitment to the Indo-Pacific region.

“BTF 25-2 presents the US commitment to discourage threats and maintain regional stability,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Travelstead, operating director of the 9th squadron.

“These Indo-Pacific missions ensure that our B-1 crews are very well trained and prepared to respond at any time, anywhere, to defend the US interests and to support our allies, ensuring a stable ino-Pacific area-where all nations operate freely in an order based on rules, while promoting peace and global prosperity.”

B-1B bombers become a familiar picture throughout Asia

The mission marks the second unfolding of American bombers B-1B Lancer in Indo-Pacific this calendar year. Within the Bomber Task Force 25-1 mission, which started at the end of January and ended last month, four Lancer bombers, along with an undeclared number of military, were held from their base in South Dakota to a base on the island of Guam, located in the west of the Pacific Ocean.

During that BTF mission, one of the B-1B bombers took part in exercises along with South Korean aircraft F-35 Lightning II and F-15 Eagle, as well as US F-16 Fighting Falcons aircraft. Those common workouts have marked the first exercises above the Korean peninsula since President Donald Trump returned to the White House.

The two B-1B bombers in Texas again became South Korea during Tuesday's flight, being escorted by US F-16 aircraft, Fighting Falcons aircraft, as well as F-35 fighter aircraft.

“Hunting planes and bombers were engaged in training (…) offensive and defensive, refining tactics, techniques and combined procedures. The bombers then made a low crossing over OSAN AB before leaving the Korean airspace,” the US Air Force was in a statement.

According to Air & Space Forces magazine, Tuesday's flight “took place while North Korea celebrated the anniversary of the founder of the state, Kim Il Sung, the great-grandfather of Kim Jong-un” and after the news that the Phenian builds what could be the largest war ship ever.

The presence of American bombers in Japan also comes in the context in which the United States Air Force have at least six Northrop B-2 spirit bombers on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, to serve as a factor against Iran and, possibly, to hit the Islamic Republic in the case where the Trump administration does not reach the Nuclear.

The American navy also strengthened its presence in the Middle East, with two nuclear propulsion in the Nimitz class operating in the region. The US press reported that at least two other aircraft carriers are currently operating in the Pacific Ocean.

Also, information appeared according to which the B-2 Spirit bombers made several blows against the Houthi rebeians, supported by Tehran, using guided bombs “GBU-57 Ordnance penetrating” that hit the deep bunkers of the militants groups.

The US operates forty-five B-1B Lancer aircraft and nineteen B-2 spirit aircraft inherited from the Era of Cold War.
