Above the military training ground in Elsenborn in the east of Belgium, 15 drones were observed on the night of Thursday to Friday – Belgian media, citing sources in the defense ministry. Their origin and the purpose of the flight are not known. The case is investigated by local services.

The Belgian Ministry of Defense investigates after the night incident over the training ground in Elsenborn in the so -called Eastern cantons, where 15 drones were detected simultaneously. As the sources of VRT NWS passed, unmanned aerial vehicles were noticed by the police around 1.45 in German Dueren (union country North Rhine-Westphalia), when they left the airspace of Belgium and flew on the territory of Germany.
The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense in Brussels, which reported that at the same time Drona was also registered by the Belgian test system used to monitor the movement of such devices. It is not yet known who controlled them and what was the purpose of the flight.
Experts evaluate the event as unusual. “There are no objects of a large strategic importance at the training ground in Elsenborn. A much more obvious goal would be the Kleine-Brrogel base, where American nuclear heads are located,” admitted military analyst Jens Franssen in an interview with the Flemish public broadcaster VRT.
The Elsenborn training ground with an area of 28 square km serves Belgian land forces as a place of exercise, including using artillery weapons, and testing of drones. The facility is located in the German -speaking community, the smallest of the three Belgian communities.
