Washington's Kennedy Center concert hall will change its name and be renamed the Trump-Kennedy Center in honor of US President Donald Trump, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday.

“I have just been informed that the Kennedy Center's esteemed board of directors, which includes some of the most successful people in the world, has just voted unanimously to rename the Kennedy Center the Trump-Kennedy Center because of the incredible work President Trump has done over the last year to save this building,” Leavitt wrote on X. She cited Trump's contributions to the facility's condition, finances and reputation.
“Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump and congratulations to President Kennedy, as this will truly be a great team for years to come! The building will undoubtedly reach new levels of success and greatness,” Leavitt added.
After coming to power, Trump dismissed the center's board and appointed himself its president, and appointed advisers close to him to the board. He announced a thorough renovation of the building and making it the “jewel in the crown” of the capital.
Axios noted that the name of the building is legally established and the management board will most likely face opposition in the event of a unilateral attempt to change it.
This is another building in Washington named after the current president. At the beginning of December, American media reported that a new name appeared on the building of the Institute of Peace located in the capital: the Institute of Peace. Donald J. Trump.
