In practice, the program was configured in such a way that the “Adrian Mutu” Football Academy will benefit from peak intervals, between 5:00 and 20:00, shows an investigation from the bulletin. The other teams are scheduled late in the evening, after 8:00 pm, which can make the players' way difficult.
The management of the complex told them to negotiate the hours for training with the “Briliant”, practically making it “boss” over the field. Official rugby parties can no longer play on this land.
The land, modernized and adapted only for football! What about the rugby?
By the concluded association, Mutu obliged to restore the land. Previously, it was covered with natural lawn and could be used for both rugby and football. Following the modernization, the surface was covered with synthetic lawn and drawn only for football.
Also, the new changing rooms were located 2 and a half meters edge, according to football regulations, but below the 3 -meter limit for accreditation of rugby lands. As a result, the surface could only be used for football workouts.
One of the athletes who practice rugby on that land confessed for GSP: “The land is impractical for rugby! If we go in there, we risk injuring, it is dangerous to play on the lawn for football.”
“We do not think we will ever officially play there again. This is not normal. And at workouts you risk getting injured, they came from who knows where and masters were made over the field. This is the case in Romania, this will always happen, we are powerless, we have nothing to do, ”said another.
What the Ministry of Labor says. The head of Rugby contradicts them!
The Romanian Rugby Federation confirms that the international standard provides for a minimum distance of 3 meters between land and obstacles. However, the Ministry of Labor argues that the synthetic lawn mounted is also compatible with rugby, arguing that the 50 mm thread complies with World Rugby requirements.
There is no concession regarding the rugby ground and, as a result, a public auction has not been organized, being several users of the multifunctional land, according to the methodology regarding the service contracts. The synthetic lawn will comply with the norms of use for both rugby and football.
According to the regulation, the distance of the edges of the rugby ground to obstacles must be at least 2 meters, and in this case it is 2.5 meters, being provided additionally with protective panels with a thickness of 10 cm in order to eliminate any risk of injury.
The land was equipped with mobile containers with locker room function, in order to comply with the norms of use for both rugby and football. The length of the synthetic grass thread is 50 mm mono-final, the length accepted by World Rugby for multifunctional land.

The association contract does not offer exclusivity to the private academy, according to official answers, the land remains open for other users. However, the use program is currently established according to the activity of the football academy.

Land of Tei, landmark for Bucharest rugby
The rugby land within the Tei Student Sports Cultural Complex is one with tradition, a landmark for the sport with the Oval Ball in Bucharest and Romania. Inaugurated in the early 1970she has hosted over many generations of important athletes and competitions over the decades, remaining a place loaded with history.
Since 1972, the field has become the main preparation and game basis for the Student Sport team, but also for the national senior and junior lots. The locker rooms, erected in 1971 even by the athletes, most students or graduates, including construction engineers, are used today, being the testimony of an era in which the passion for sport was interwoven with the spirit of community.
In the 1970s, the student sport was under the tutelage of the Bucharest University Center and operated on the sports base in Tei. In the 1990s, the same land was used by both the student and Dinamo sport, strengthening its status of POL of the Bucharest rugby.
In January 2025, the clubs were notified by the administrators that the extension of the current contracts is in doubt, after the involvement of Adrian Mutu. Now, it seems that rugby does not take place in lime. This is not only the case of this land, in fact, the sport with the oval ball loses places to practice every year, despite the fact that the national rugby team still gets performance: “Oaks” are qualified at the 2027 World Championship.
