“The pendulum did not swing towards Ukraine returning its territories,” he said, noting that the Russians did not achieve any progress in the north of Ukraine. Nevertheless, the invaders managed to exert significant pressure on the Kupyansk area in the east.
According to Clark, the main efforts of the Russian aggressor country on the battlefield are concentrated around Pokrovsk and Chesov Yara, as well as on the “Fortress belt”-a network of four cities in the East, including Kramatorsk and Slavyansk, which restrained Russian troops for 11 years.
According to him, the Russians are physically quite close, but they are still far from the opportunity to take these cities.
The analyst believes that Ukraine can expect another difficult winter full of air bombing. Despite this, the receipt of more weapons and the organization of more financing for its purchase means that Kyiv will probably be able to hold out another winter, he said.
Clark claims that at present there are no prospects for real strategic changes on the battlefield for Russia.
