“Najaf’s criminal court sentenced a man for human trafficking to life imprisonment. The convicted person together with the other defendants organized groups and sent them to fight abroad in exchange for monetary reward,” the statement said.
Where exactly the mercenaries were sent, the department did not specify.
Associated Press agency in Baghdad reported that the defendant is called Risan Falah Camel, he was convicted of recruiting militants for the Russian war against Ukraine.
